How much sun a solar garden light actually needs
Solar lighting fails for one reason far more often than any other, and it is decided on the day you place the light, not the day you buy it.
Charging is about direct light, not brightness
A panel needs several hours of direct sun to fill its battery. Bright shade charges it slowly and partially, which shows up as a light that fades by ten o'clock.
Six to eight hours of direct sun is the realistic target for a full evening of run time.
Where people go wrong
Under a tree, against a north-facing wall, or behind a fence for half the day. All of these charge something, just not enough.
If the spot is shaded at noon, it is not a solar spot.
Panel size tells you more than LED count
A light advertising thirty LEDs on a tiny panel will be bright briefly and then stop. A larger panel with fewer LEDs runs all evening.
For a partly shaded bed, choose the bigger panel and accept fewer lights.
Winter is genuinely different
Shorter days and a lower sun mean less charge, and cold reduces battery capacity as well. A light that ran all summer will not in January.
This is normal and not a fault. Bringing them in over the worst of it extends their life considerably.
Clean the panel
A season of dust and pollen on a small panel measurably cuts charging. A wipe every couple of months restores most of it.
This is the single cheapest maintenance job in a garden.
Batteries are replaceable more often than people think
Most units take a standard rechargeable cell. When run time drops after a couple of years, that is usually the fix rather than a new light.
It is worth checking before replacing the whole fitting.
Balconies and fire escapes
Small stakes and hanging lanterns suit containers and railings, and a balcony often gets better direct sun than a shaded garden.
Choose something you can bring in easily, because exposed positions weather faster.
Where this sits in the shop
Azza's Garden groups its range into 7 sections, so it is usually quicker to start from the group than to scroll the whole shop. These are the ones with stock on the shelf right now:
- Solar Garden Lights — 10 items
- Statues and Ornaments — 4 items
- Garden Signs and Flags — 4 items
- Garden Stakes — 2 items
- Wall and Fence Decor — 1 item
- Bird and Wildlife — 1 item
If none of those is obviously right, the full shop lists everything on one page.
What it costs
Across the 23 items currently listed, prices run from $3.66 to $38.99, with the middle of the range around $18.99. That spread is worth knowing before you start comparing, because the cheapest and dearest options here are usually not the same kind of product at all.
Shipping is a flat $5.49 per order and free once the order reaches $39.00, which is set out in full on the Shipping Policy page.
